Happy New Year!

So as my local peeps know everything is shut down. I am just working away on the painting at the moment. I haven't really been inspired to write anything musically. That usually takes some distance for me so I am concentrating on where my inspiration is leading at the moment. Hopefully things will get a little better in the spring. I wish love and light to us all in 2021!

I will have those complete end of April. If you like to see artwork in progress you can check it out on my Instagram @nicoleockmondmusic I post progress photos of my work.

With a Little Help From My Friends-Art & Music

Had such a great experience working with Treo on Tulane.  Great time was had by all at the CD Release/opening party and closing parties!

I've got another show in the works this time at the Artisan Bar 2514 Saint Claude Ave.  This time it will be a one woman show. My art will hang for the months of October & November and the opening will be the second Saturday of each month... so October 13th and November 10th.  I'll be performing with my cast of characters (said in your best Dr. John voice).  We'll be doing some of my originals and other tunes I've picked out to tickle your fancy. Should be lot's of fun!  Music and Art what's not to love.  Check back closer to the date for more details.

THANKS Ya'll!

We had a wonderful time at the CD Release/Art Opening!  Made some new friends and caught up with some old ones.  A good time was had by all. My work for that show will remain in the gallery until the end of May.  You can also check out the artwork of Mark James.

I started work on some new stuff...got something planned for October so check back.  More details to come.

CD Release/Art Opening

I'm finally getting around to holding a CD release party for my CD "Something Out Of Nothing"!  We're having a CD Release/ Art opening on May 4th 8pm-10pm at Treo on Tulane Ave.  Nicole Ockmond Group will be performing tunes from the CD & we're also having an art opening same time same evening for my paintings.  The Art show will feature three paintings that were used as artwork for the CD design "Something Out Of Nothing" and five other portraits of musicians that worked on the project with me.  So excited about this project!  Please stop by for the party!  It's a cocktail bar and restaurant so great place to pass a good time after Jazzfest!  The paintings will be hanging in the gallery all of May so if you can't make it on May 4th you can still pass by and check them out.  Please post a picture of yourself posed next to your favorite and tag me on FB or Instagram.  Would love to see exactly how many people visit my lil' paintings while they are in the gallery. They are also all for $ale so bring some spending money. Yay!

Looking Forward

As I have finished clearing out and cleaning up after Christmas dinner I am so looking forward to 2018.  I have booked a location for the CD release that has morphed also into an art opening.  We are settling on a date.  It is looking like May 4th.  We'll be doing a live performance of tunes off of the latest recording and some other tunes curated for this show.  I'll be doing an art opening the same evening on the 2nd floor gallery of the same space. Treo Nola it will be featuring the 3 portraits I did as CD artwork and 5 new portraits I will be working on probably right until the last minute. I've finally decided I don't need to make a choice between how I express myself creatively.  It all springs forth from the same well so why try to contain or limit it.  I for one am now just going with the flow and riding the creative wave wherever it takes me. I hope everyone had a lovely holiday whichever one you celebrate and I'd like to wish everyone all the goodness and happiness in 2018.

No one puts Baby in the corner.

Boys and Girls,  Baby has been pushed out of the nest!  "Something Out Of Nothing" has to stand on its own two feet/wings now.  I have nurtured this project on and off for the last 11 or so years.  I watched over it tenderly from the tiny fledgling stage to its present metamorphosis, in hopes that it will grow up to become a soaring eagle and make mama proud :).   It is available locally at Louisiana Music Factory on Frenchmen Street.  Available on my website and on October 15th it will be available for purchase at iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, etc.  Please $upport. Love and Light.

Paintings Finished!

So the last piece of my creative input to the "Something out of Nothing" project has been completed.  I finished last of the 3 paintings of my trio members that will be used in the CD design.  I'm having photos taken of the three paintings this week and then I'll be sending off to disc makers for the final design and press.  This has been such a long process but I kept myself motivated by believing in the hard work everyone involved gave to it. Can't wait to present to the planet and all interested parties.
